We use a terminal server for this, QB and the datafile are on the TS, Everyone RDPs in, external users use RD gateway (or RDP through VPN) with proper precautions in place and internal users just get an RDP shortcut on their desktops. Are there any other options other than Windows RDP? I do not want to host QuickBooks in the cloud because the recurring per-user costs are too much for this client, especially since Windows Server, RDP and QuickBooks are both practically free for the non-profit. I have used Parallel RAS in the past, but that is too much to afford and deal with for such a small need. However, I wondered if there were other options for providing remote access for such a small need with only 2 users. With that said, I am looking at using RDP and with Cloudflare's Access over RDP service to protect the connection. You have to provide access to the actual application that is local to the datafile. QuickBooks is a thick application so there is no way to use a simple VPN to access the datafile. There's only 2 people who need to remote access the application and 2 people local on the LAN who will access it via a typical network share. I have a small non-profit who needs to provide remote access to their QuickBooks datafile for their accountant.
